Voting is underway across Uganda as citizens elect their Local Council One (LC I) Chairpersons, the first level of local leadership responsible for village administration and community governance.
In Kasese District, the exercise is taking place across 44 lower local governments, comprising rural sub-counties and urban town councils, spread across five constituencies including Kasese Municipality.
According to the Electoral Commission of Kasese District, voting is being conducted in 130 parishes and 838 villages, with polling expected to close at 1:00 p.m. today.
Our reporting teams have been deployed across Kasese Municipality and various parts of the district to monitor the exercise and provide live updates on voter turnout, the conduct of polling, and any emerging developments.
Among our correspondents on the ground are Kheem Best, Bakulirahi Moses, and Paul Katukwire, who continue to relay reports from different polling stations.
A comprehensive roundup of today’s LC I elections, including results, reactions, and analysis from across Kasese District, will be broadcast in our main news bulletin at 9:00 p.m. tonight.
