A section of subjects of the Rwenzururu Kingdom has raised concern over what they describe as delays by government in fulfilling the Presidential pledge to construct a palace for the cultural institution.
Speaking at a press conference held yesterday at Verina Gardens in Kasese Municipality, human rights defender, Mr. Jonan Bwambale Bamwenda called for closer collaboration among Kingdom subjects to support the construction of the palace.
Mr. Jonan cited the adage, “one by one makes a bundle,” stressing that unity and collective effort are key to achieving the project.
He urged Kingdom subjects to contribute financially, materially and through technical guidance, saying they should not wait solely for government support.
As a practical contribution, Mr. Jonan pledged 100 bags of cement to the Kingdom leadership, which he said he would deliver this week to help kick-start the project.
Meanwhile, LC1 Chairperson for Basecamp Lower, Mr. Jafali Kigutiha who pledged two truckloads of bricks towards the project, said as subjects, they can’t sit adamantly to wait for government to act.
