Eddy Kenzo has pushed back against recent remarks made by Bebe Cool, calling for more inclusive thinking around government support for the music industry and dismissing personal attacks on his global impact.
Appearing on Talk and Talk show, Bebe Cool suggested that he deserves billions of shillings from the government in recognition of his long-standing contribution to the Ugandan music industry.
However, Kenzo disagreed with the idea, noting that the industry is broad and cannot revolve around just two or three individuals.
The idea doesn’t work for me because the music industry doesn’t revolve around just two or three people. It’s broad, and government funding is meant to serve everyone.
Kenzo also responded to Bebe Cool’s remarks made during the show, where Bebe downplayed Kenzo’s international stature, claiming he isn’t truly a global artist, despite Kenzo being the first Ugandan to win a BET award and having a string of international achievements.
Everyone has their choice to see and analyze things the way they want, so if he said I’m not global, he might be correct in his ignorance. I’m not responsible for anybody’s ignorance.
The good thing is that the facts and reality are there, of what I’ve achieved so far. So there’s no need to argue with certain remarks like Bebe Cool’s.
