David Lutalo has opened up about the secret behind his longevity in the music industry.
Lutalo who has been consistent for over 10 years and has timeless songs, says his staying power comes from never getting too comfortable and always striving to grow.
When you see me disappear from the public eye, it’s intentional. It’s to create demand. I’m never in my comfort zone.
Lutalo explained that his focus has always been on creating music that stands the test of time, rather than just chasing short-term trends.
I sing for the future, even if you don’t understand the song now, someone in 10 years can pick interest and love it. I care about the song being nice, not just about making a hit.
Lutalo further noted that not every song becomes an instant success, but some can gain recognition over time. He emphasised that his respect for his craft has kept him relevant in a highly competitive industry.
The competition is stiff, and things are changing. We’re moving from earning much from stage performances to making money from digital platforms. So, if you want to earn long-term, that’s where the focus should be.
