Participants of the recent TuskerLite Rwenzori Marathon, a key sporting event in kasese municipality have voiced their concerns over the insufficient support and facilitation from local leaders. Among those affected are local runners who feel their dedication is not adequately recognized or assisted.

One of the notable runners is Rwanzu Muhasa Paulina, a 63-year-old veteran runner from railway ward in kasese municipality. Muhasa, who has participated in numerous local races, lamented the lack of proper facilitation and nutritional support so that they are able to compete with sebei runners from kapchorwa.

Similarly, Kabatoro Charles, a 40-year-old local runner from kilembe, highlighted issues related to nutrition and keeping the health of the bodies.

meanwhile Bakulha Sam, the head of youth affairs at the Kasese Tourism Investors Forum, weighed in on youth involvement in sports and local development. He stressed the importance of engaging youth in tourism through doing a lot of related projects such as handcraft so that they are able to benefit from the marathon.

On the security front, Kabiriri Henry, Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Kasese, emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards in hospitality establishments such as bars, hotels, and restaurants to meet quality and safety standards

As Kasese continues to grow as a tourist and sporting hub, stakeholders are hopeful that their voices will lead to tangible improvements in the near future.
