A top Russian military intelligence official is in a critical condition in hospital after been shot several times by unidentified gunman at his Moscow home. Lieutenant General Vladimir Alexeyev is the latest high-ranking military figure to be targeted in the capital since Russia invaded Ukraine almost four years ago. The Government of Uganda, through the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, has handed over the Mubuku Youth Training Skills Centre in Kasese district and Fort Portal Remand Home in Fort Portal City to the community, the aim is to equip youths with practical skills. The centers offer training in catering, welding, bricklaying, computer skills, carpentry, and construction, complementing presidential hubs nationwide. At least 200 people were killed earlier this week when heavy rains triggered a series of catastrophic landslides at the Rubaya coltan mine in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The site has been under the control of the M23 rebel group since 2024. Fort Portal traders are unhappy about the garbage collection situation. They claim authorities aren’t helping despite paying taxes. Traders Monica Kabahenda, Grace Asiimwe, and Mary Rwakyaka say leaders should address the issue. Fort Portal Central Division Mayor Richard Muhumuza says city officials are working on the problem. James Biryabareema, Kiteere dumping site manager, says traders bringing garbage should also work. Fort Portal had a daily garbage collection fee of 100 shillings, but the site has become a pigsty.

Seif al-Islam Gadhafi, the son of former Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, has been killed in the town of Zintan, Libyan officials said on Tuesday.
