The much-anticipated Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon is scheduled to take place on August 23, 2025, marking its fourth edition. Organizers are passionately encouraging local residents to participate and showcase their cultures and endurances at Rwenzori Mountains.
While addressing stakeholders in a meeting that took place at Sandton hotel in Kasese municipality in preparation for the marathon, Maren Cecelie, one of the event organizers, outlined the key regulations for participants. She emphasized the importance of adhering to safety and health protocols.
She further detailed the registration process—available both online and at designated centers—and urged early registration to secure a spot in this annual sporting event.
In response to questions about the marathon’s benefits to the community, Moses Amonie highlighted the economic opportunities arising from the event. He explained that the Marathon Expo, scheduled alongside the race, would serve as a platform for local businesses to showcase products and services, stimulating entrepreneurship and boosting the local economy.
Colline Masiga, another organizer, shared insights into the marathon route. He described the scenic course that winds through the picturesque Rwenzori mountain, noting points of interest and strategic locations for spectators to cheer on the runners.
The organizers reiterated their call for residents to participate actively, whether through running, volunteering, or supporting the event. Hilda Birungi chairperson kasese bar and restaurant operators association pledged total support to the marathon through their members. Due to the opportunities it creates for their businesses.
Bodaboda riders on Stanley Street through their chairperson Mr kule Henry said the organizers have to engage stage masters for traffic management during the marathon to avoid accidents of the runners. He also highlighted the need to provide allowances to the bodaboda riders for the two days the street is blocked for the marathon.
Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon is an annual event that happens in kasese municipality and continues to promote sports, tourism, and community development in the region and the country as a whole.
