President yoweri kaguta museveni has issued a strong warning to candidates and their supporters who committed various atrocities in the recently concluded NRM primaries. In various parts of this country, violence and vote rigging and bribery were registered and this halted a free and fair election.
In a statement he issued yesterday, HE yoweri kaguta museveni assured citizens that the state agencies of Uganda have started the necessary anti-crime actions against the self-seekers. He stated that They are starting with the clear cases of NRM officials alleged to have altered the results in the tallying. Eight of them have been arrested.
He indicated that the ones so far arrested are from Mayuge, Buyende, Kapchorwa, Pader, Oyam, Rwampara, Kareenga and Mbarara.
Meanwhile, the president asked residents to provide evidence against the other offences of violence, bribery and interfering with the registers.
In his letter, the president said he has constituted a committee of powerful lawyers to handle the petitions that will be coming through to the NRM tribunal.
He assured ugandans that he will clean up the NRM as also defend the wider
interests of all the Ugandans.
