Former Leader of the Opposition, Mathias Mpuuga, has called upon Parliament to extend the same level of support to his successor, Joel Ssenyonyi, as he himself received during his tenure.
Mpuuga emphasised the need for unity among Members of Parliament (MPs) in order to advance the common interests of Ugandans.
He stated that despite his youth, Joel Ssenyonyi exhibits remarkable reasonability and deserves our support as we persist in our responsibilities, representing both the National Unity Platform (NUP), a youthful party, and the broader Opposition. Our collective aim is to envision a brighter tomorrow for our children and posterity.
He urged MPs to view one another as public servants, irrespective of their political differences.
Highlighting their shared vision, Mpuuga urged his colleagues to leave a mark in history by demonstrating their commitment to the greater good.
Drawing inspiration from a recent book, he called upon everyone to take a step back and assess the nation’s trajectory.
Mpuuga advised Ssenyonyi to prioritize effective communication so as to ensure his message reaches the intended audience.
