After years of hard work, Mzei has finally completed his house, which he built for his children. He first built houses for his two wives, and then built a grave for himself. Mzei says he decided to build his own grave because his children and wives were hesitant to build for him, so he took matters into his own hands. Concerned residents in Kasese municipality have called on the Kasese district leadership to consider local leaders in the planning process of d-silting River Nyamwamba to help guide and implement permanent solutions to its flooding. Mr. Jafari Kigutiha, the LCI chairperson for Basecamp Lower and a concerned resident, expressed suspicion that funds meant for River Nyamwamba might be misused, emphasizing the need for local leaders’ involvement. Government officials in Cameroon updated the death toll in last month’s post-election protests, saying on Wednesday that 16 people died and more than 800 others were arrested.
