In a heartwarming initiative to support individuals with disabilities, Abdul Saadi Thembo, the LC III Chairperson of Maliba Town Council, presided over a generous donation of 51 goats to local beneficiaries. This event was organized in collaboration with the Africa Disability Youth Network and the Abilis Foundation, aiming to enhance the livelihoods of persons with disabilities in the area.
The ceremony took place at the town council offices and was attended by various dignitaries, including Masereka Muhammad, the CEO of the Africa Disability Youth Network, and Baluku Augustine, the Chairperson of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) in Maliba among others. The event celebrated not only the donation but also the collaboration between local leadership and organizations advocating for disability inclusion.
Abdul Saadi thembo said this donation of goats is not just a gift; it is a step towards financial independence and empowerment among persons with disabilities in this town council.

He emphasized the importance of supporting marginalized groups and highlighted the potential that livestock farming holds for sustainable livelihoods.

Masereka Muhammad commended the initiative, noting that it aligns with the organization’s goal of promoting economic empowerment among youth with disabilities

Baluku Augustine- chairperson persons with disabilities in maliba town council also echoed the sentiment of thanks, underlining the significance of such donations in breaking the cycle of poverty that often affects people with disabilities. He encouraged other organizations and individuals to join in supporting similar initiatives.

Beneficiary Bwambale Roscoe expressed his gratitude, sharing how receiving a goat would enable him to start a small business for his family.

The Maliba Town Council, alongside the Africa Disability Youth Network and the Abilis Foundation, aims to continue these efforts to uplift marginalized groups and ensure that every individual has the opportunity to thrive.
