Biira Michaeline Mau Mau a Beneficciary under Kasese youth link for development and a survivor of GBV (Gender based Violence) today narrated how she has survived the life under violence at home. At first my father never wanted the pregnancy that my mother conceived and that baby was me, he wanted my mother to abort that pregnancy and my mother refused then after birth, i was segregated among the rest of the children at home because i was the un wanted child to the level of denial for all the basic needs. Then on the schooling process, my mother was providing everything and i was of no value among my fellow friends at school and i was lonely without a friend in the school community to the level of being blamed on every bad act in class. i couldn’t get fees, hence breaking off termly. by God’s grace i have completed my S4 at Bwera SS. Kasese youth link for Development rescued me in p6. i thank the director of this organization for my rescue and support. Then after reconciling we with the father, i became her child and i was brought back to his chest. “said Biira Michaeline Mau Mau – a citizen of Omunkunyu”
In the same way, Nyakato Juliet a citizen of Ibanda – Kyanya town council has emphasized the life she undergo in the family where GBV is rampant. I couldn’t get fees in both Primary and Secondary and there’s violence between my mother and father where the father is addicted to alcohol and he could provide food with the rest of the basic needs for the past 19 years of my living. I have just completed s4 and the Kasese youth Link for Development were the ones responsible for my being at school and up to now i haven’t seen any change in the GBV on my family side.
