As the Government of Uganda through UPDF fisheries Protection unity under the command of Lt. Col. Mercy Tukahirwa continues to put sanity on lakes, some fishermen have continuously depleted the lakes by engaging illegal fishing gear on lakes.
According to the FPU sector commander Kamaliba landing site, Capt. Jacob Obbo, the fishermen at Lake Victoria had re-started using illegal fishing gear on different lakes in the country.
