How can students prepare for their future without a clear roadmap?

Kalungu Member of Parliament, Sewungu Joseph, has raised concerns over the uncertainty surrounding the implementation of the new A-Level curriculum, questioning the lack of clarity on grading, content, and the availability of learning materials.

Speaking on the matter, Sewungu criticised the government for failing to provide clear guidelines for Senior Four graduates who are expected to transition into the new system.

He emphasised the need for immediate action, arguing that students and schools cannot adequately prepare without a structured framework.

“How can students prepare for their future without a clear roadmap?” he exclaimed, calling for transparency in the rollout of the curriculum.

Among the key concerns he highlighted is the grading system, which remains undisclosed, leaving both educators and students uncertain about assessment methods. Additionally, he questioned whether curriculum books are available, warning that delays in their distribution could negatively impact learning.

Sewungu also urged the government to clarify where the newly graduated Senior Four students will enroll and whether schools are fully equipped to implement the changes.

With the academic year progressing, his call for accountability adds to the growing demand for clarity from education stakeholders, as schools, parents, and students await official communication from the Ministry of Education.
