The Nubian community in Bombo under their umbrella body, the Nubian Community, have petitioned the Solicitor General Hon. Dr. Sam Mayanja to help them against land grabbers who want to evict them from 3 villages where they have lived for over 100 years.
They were speaking during a thanksgiving event to appreciate President Museveni for appointing Hon. Dr. Sam Mayanja as Solicitor General, from his former position as State Minister for Lands. The event was held in Bombo.
While he was still State Minister for Lands, Hon. Dr. Sam Mayanja helped many people, especially those who were being chased from their land over debts.
Today, the Nubians under the Nubian Community in Bombo organized this thanksgiving to praise God and appreciate President Museveni for appointing Hon. Dr. Sam Mayanja as Solicitor General, saying he has always stood with them.
However, residents of Nakatonya Sub-county, in Sedertulabe Village, Gogonya B, Bembe A/B and Asuru, led by Twahah Abdul, are accusing Male Alex, Moses Katende and Musiwuze Fred of forging a fake land title on their land. They say this has been going on for 12 years without help.
Twah Abdul explains that the Nubians obtained a land title for this land on 01/05/1999. But the accused people, he alleges, connived with fraudsters in a neighboring village and forged a fake title on their land in 2015.
They also reminded Hon. Dr. Sam Mayanja that while he was still State Minister for Lands, on 22/02/2024 he directed the then Luwero RDC, the late Fred Byabwe, to ensure that people live in peace and that the fake title be canceled.
The Deputy RDC of Luwero, Ronie Musoni, told Hon. Dr. Sam Mayanja that he was not aware of the matter, but promised that once he gets the details he will ensure these people are given their land titles.
In response, the Solicitor General Hon. Dr. Sam Mayanja said he will use his office to write to President Museveni and request him to deploy ASP Tumusiime in Luwero to handle the issues affecting the Nubians.
Hon. Dr. Sam Mayanja also warned the land grabbers that their time is up and he directed police to arrest Male Alex and others.
He assured the Nubians not to fear because the land is still theirs, and he will fight to ensure they get land titles for their land.
In appreciation, the Nubians gave him gifts including chickens, matooke and other items.
