Business at butcheries in Ntungamo Municipality is still slow even after government lifted an 8-month ban on slaughtering livestock due to Foot and Mouth Disease.
Butchers and traders say customers have reduced because people stayed long without income during the ban.
Lawrence Ndyamusiima, James Chaada and Eli Behangana said the business is struggling to recover.
Prices have also gone up. A kilo of beef is now 16,000 shillings up from 15,000, while goat meat remains at 22,000 shillings.
Elias Mugume, Deputy Head of Butchers in Ntungamo Municipality, says traders must follow strict guidelines to prevent another outbreak.
The butchers say they are committed to following all procedures so they can keep their businesses running.
